Project Title
Sinclair–Beatty Wedding Suite
Custom Wedding Identity & Print Collateral
Overview
This project involved designing a full wedding stationery suite for Mary Pat and Eric, including save-the-date cards, formal invitations, reception cards, and a post-COVID “change the date” announcement. The couple wanted a romantic, timeless look with a personal, handcrafted feel. To achieve this, I created a custom monogram emblem and hand-illustrated floral elements that were used consistently across all pieces.
The Challenge
The clients needed a cohesive wedding identity that felt elegant and personal, while also being flexible enough to adapt to changing circumstances. Midway through the process, their original wedding date had to be postponed due to COVID-19. This required creating a new “change the date” card that matched the original design system while clearly communicating the update in a warm, reassuring way.
Key challenges included:
Designing a versatile visual system that could work across multiple formats
Creating original illustration elements that felt refined, not overly decorative
Maintaining consistency while adapting layouts for new event details
Communicating a sensitive schedule change in a positive, celebratory tone
Design Approach
Visual Identity
I began by developing a custom monogram featuring the couple’s initial (“B”), framed by ornamental scrollwork and hand-drawn floral accents. The emblem served as the visual anchor for the entire suite.
The floral illustrations were drawn digitally to resemble watercolor textures, giving the stationery a soft, romantic feel without sacrificing legibility.
Color & Typography
Color Palette: Soft lavender, sage green, muted gold accents, and warm neutrals
Typography:
A classic serif for names and formal details
A delicate script for accents and emotional emphasis
Clean sans-serif text for secondary information to ensure readability
This balance helped the designs feel traditional yet fresh.
Layout System
Each piece followed a consistent hierarchy:
Emblem or floral framing at the top
Names as the primary focal point
Event details grouped clearly with generous spacing
Decorative borders used sparingly to avoid visual clutter
Deliverables
Save-the-Date Card
Formal Wedding Invitation
Reception-Only Card
RSVP Card
“Change the Date” Announcement
Envelope Seals & Wax-Seal Style Accent
Coordinated Mockups for Presentation
Special Consideration: COVID Reschedule
When the wedding was postponed due to COVID-19, I designed a “Change the Date” card that preserved the original brand aesthetic while introducing a softer, reassuring tone. The phrase “Love Is Patient” was added as a thematic element, reflecting both the couple’s resilience and the emotional context of the change.
This piece required:
Adjusting the layout to prioritize clarity
Reworking color balance for a calmer, more hopeful mood
Retaining brand consistency across the updated materials
Outcome
The final wedding suite provided the couple with a cohesive, elegant identity that extended across all printed and digital touchpoints. The clients were especially pleased with the custom illustrations and the seamless transition between the original materials and the updated “change the date” announcement.
This project demonstrates my ability to:
Build a complete visual system from concept to execution
Create original illustration assets for branding
Adapt designs to real-world constraints and timeline changes
Balance emotional tone with clear information hierarchy
