The Art Theater
Brand Identity & Promotional Design
Overview
The Art Theater was a historic, single-screen cinema known for screening independent, classic, and cult films. I developed a refreshed visual identity and a series of promotional materials that honored the theater’s Art Deco roots while allowing flexibility for themed events and seasonal programming.
Challenge
The Art Theater needed a visual system that could:
Respect its long history and architectural character
Feel cohesive across very different types of films
Attract modern audiences without losing its classic identity
Solution
I created an Art Deco–inspired logo and visual system that balanced elegance with adaptability. The identity was designed to work across print and digital formats, while allowing tonal shifts for specific events like The Rocky Horror Picture Show and live-scored silent films such as Nosferatu.
Design Approach
Art Deco typography and geometry to reflect the theater’s era
Limited, high-contrast color palettes for dramatic impact
Graphic silhouettes and textures to evoke cinema and stage lighting
Clear typographic hierarchy for fast readability at a distance
Results
The final system supports a wide range of programming while maintaining a consistent brand presence. The posters demonstrate how a single identity can flex across genres — from playful cult classics to atmospheric silent horror — without losing cohesion.
Role
Brand identity, logo design, poster design, and promotional concept development.
